OSU powering PDX electric car industry

OSU is already building a partner relationship with Nissan as part of the company’s effort to make Portland the North America hub for its electric car distribution. Now, a Norwegian manufacturer may want to start building electric cars in Portland, and, as usual, OSU is in the thick of it. Engineering Dean Ron Adams weighs in on this morning’s Oregonian coverage on building the workforce to sustain these companies’ efforts:

Oregon State University engineering Dean Ron Adams, who chairs the Oregon Energy Planning Council, said the state trains engineers who could help manufacture and design electric vehicles.

“We have a pretty healthy manufacturing sector here,” with workers who know how to assemble complex machines, Adams said.
