Oregon State alum new president of University of Idaho

April 23rd, 2009

Oregon State alum M. Duane Nellis was just named the president of the University of Idaho by the Idaho State Board of Education this week. He’s the second person with OSU ties to take the position. It was formerly held by Tim White, former Provost of Oregon State University, who is now Chancellor of the University of California at Riverside.

Before taking the position at Idaho, Nellis served as the Provost and Senior Vice President at Kansas State University. He will start at the Idaho campus before the fall semester begins in August.

At Kansas State University, Nellis oversaw a budget of over $700 million plus research funding that exceeds $200 million.
Nellis was awarded a Ph.D. in Geography, with a specialization in remote sensing and natural resource systems, from OSU in 1980.
