New Wave rocker (and avid biker) David Byrne reviews OSU Press book

May 29th, 2009

We just got to read ex-Talking Heads frontman David Byrne’s flattering review of Jeff Mapes’ recent OSU Press book, “Pedaling Revolution.” Byrne, who has cycled in New York City for 30 years, calls Mapes’ book, “great ammunition for those of us who would like to see American cities become more bike-friendly,” and applauds Mapes’ treatment of cycling – which has often been seen as an extreme sport – as a day-to-day form of transportation. Byrne praises all of the information Mapes includes in the book – on cycling policies, air pollution and the emergence of the culture – and also appreciates Mapes’ personal story around cycling. Check it out!

We’ve also heard that Byrne will be in Portland for Pedalpalooza June 23. Stay tuned.
