Every Bit Counts

For the past two football seasons, OSU Athletics and Campus Recycling have teamed up in an effort to reduce waste and promote recycling at home football games – they recruit and coordinate volunteers to rove through the tailgating areas, as well as collect recycling at stadium gates. This video honors their efforts, and that of volunteers.

To learn more about what you can do to help reduce waste on campus, check out Campus Recycling’s website and Facebook page, as well as the excellent Ecologue, written by Sustainability Coordinator Brandon Trelstad.

Here are a few things you can do at Saturday’s Civil War Game to help:

  • Pack it in, pack it out: While tailgating, consider bringing trash and recyclables home with you to help reduce litter and waste.
  • Use trash cans: Trash carts and/or dumpsters are located in every tailgating parking lot.
  • Use recycle bins: Dumpsters clearly marked “Recycling Only” are located in the parking lot at 15th & Western, and bins staffed by volunteers are located at the stadium gates starting 2 hours before kickoff.
  • Leave recyclables at your stadium seat: Cleaning crews can collect them after the game.
