The OSU Experience Expo will run from Jan. 25 to 28, and is an opportunity for new and returning students to drop in and learn about some basics of the Oregon State experience that will enhance their academic and personal success.
Expos will be held from 11 am to 3 p.m. in the Memorial Union Ballroom. Each expo will also include supplemental workshops.
Monday, Jan. 25 — Employment Fair
There are multiple opportunities for student employment at Oregon State’s many offices, labs, restaurants, stores and other employers. Workshops on job-search strategies and group interviewing will also be hosted throughout the day.
Tuesday, Jan. 26 — Wellness Fair
It’s always good for students to be reminded of the resources available to support their physical and psychological well-being, says Interim Director of New Student Programs and Family Outreach Leslee Mayers. The fair’s main exhibitors, including Dixon Recreation Center and Counseling and Psychological Services, will offer workshops on sleep and stress, healthy eating and other topics.
Wednesday, Jan. 27 — Corvallis Housing Fair
This fair is an Oregon State staple, and Mayers says its usually very well attended. The event offers students an opportunity to interact with Corvallis property managers, identify potential rental housing options and explore on-campus options. Live Smart workshops will be offered throughout the day. Some local landlords offer a $50 rental deposit credit to students who have completed this training.
Thursday, Jan. 28 — Major and Academic Engagement Fair
New students are encouraged to explore their academic options, and there might be some information for upperclassmen as well.
“Someone within their major and feeling confident about what they’re studying might stop and say, ‘Oh, I didn’t know this major was an option,’ or ‘Oh, I’m close to finishing this program, so I’ll just add it on,’” Mayers says.
Mayers expects the four-day event to be a success.
“We are really excited to bring all of these events together in one intensive week,” Mayers says.
